The new single-player campaign wends its way through political intrigue, assassination, and biological warfare, all to the backdrop of a good variety of maps built specifically for the campaign. It's typical scripted stuff, but what it might lack in quality, it makes up for in sheer quantity. If skirmishes or multiplayer are your thing, there are new modes, including a puzzle-style capture game, and a game with a powerful tactical SCUD up for grabs. Even more importantly, there are lots of new setup options for multiplayer games, including a variety of victory conditions, a game speed option, and even a damage modifier to make combat more or less lethal. It's actually pretty impressive what a difference some of the seemingly minor options make. For instance, you can tweak each of the three types of resources -- oil wells, prisoners, and banks -- to completely change the economic balance of any game.
